{"id":449,"date":"2024-01-03T15:08:42","date_gmt":"2024-01-03T15:08:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/filmschoolteacher.info\/fredsnotes\/?p=449"},"modified":"2024-01-03T15:08:44","modified_gmt":"2024-01-03T15:08:44","slug":"three","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/filmschoolteacher.info\/fredsnotes\/2024\/01\/03\/three\/","title":{"rendered":"Three*"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some of the ideas I\u2019ll be exploring in the months \u2014 my research semester starts in 18 months \u2014 to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dewey\u2019s pragmatism, as laid out in <em>Democracy and Education<\/em>, <em>How We Think<\/em>, and <em>Art as Experience.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experiential learning, as laid out by David Kolb and critiqued \/ refined by several others since.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Donald Sch\u00f6n\u2019s observations and theories on reflection in action \/ praxis, with special attention to Lisa Candy\u2019s <em>The Reflective Creative Practitioner<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vygotsky, of course. The zone of proximal learning and scaffolding are key concepts in any educational programme geared towards developing both technical and artistic skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Seymour Papert\u2019s constructionism. In filmmaking programmes, the students learn best when actually making films, both for purely internal critique but also for public distribution through festivals and the like.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Situated learning and \u00ablegitimate peripheral participation\u00bb as analysed by Jean Lave and Etienne Wenger.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>And, as I\u2019ve already mentioned, 4E cognition, with special emphasis on how it relates to creativity and craft.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">* I\u2019m lousy at titles. I might end up using some variation of the number of the post for 2024.
